How hard is it to fix a cv joint on the drivers side in a 1989 buick lesabre?

we believe it is the cv joint that is knocking under my floor board in my car... atleast that is what my father has told me, and he has never told me wrong. How hard is it to fix a cv joint on the drivers side in a 1989 buick lesabre? Not hard. You have to remove the wheel. Remove the tie rod end. Remove the ball joint from the sterring knuckle. THen remove the axle bolt (rent the socket at the autopart store). The half-shaft should come out of the steering knuckle/wheel bearing. Next pry the other end of the half shaft out of the transmission.

You'll have the half-shaft cv joint assembly out of the car. By a rebouilt assembly for $85.

Install is the reverse above.

You can get more detail from a repair manual at the library. Or go to autozone online. Register for an account and enter your car make.
