Could a Throttle position sensor go bad twice in a 93 Buick Lesabre?

My car would idle really high as if the petal was down to the floor, so i took it to be repaired and the throttle position sensor was replaced. It work very well and I drove it weeks later. One day I left my car in the yard for a month, and the battery was dead, but when I got a jump it the idling very high all over again, so could the sensor have gone bad again.
