Can I put R134a or some other refrigerant besides R12 in my 1986 Buick Century?

Can I put R134a in my 1986 Buick Century without having to change any of my current A/C system? Or can I use something else besides R12, that I can buy without a A/C license? ThanksCan I put R134a or some other refrigerant besides R12 in my 1986 Buick Century?R134 is not a direct substitute for a R12 system. You do have to convert the a/c system over first.

Whether you can use any other refrigerant on your Buick or not without changing any seals, oil or switches, I don't know...Can I put R134a or some other refrigerant besides R12 in my 1986 Buick Century?Yes you can!!! You can go to www.autorefrigerants.com and purchase a refrigerant called ES12a. It is fully compatible with both r-12 and r134a refrigerants/oil and can be put on top of those refrigerants, no seals, no oil changes. All you need is the R134a service port adapters. No license needed...
