They are cable driven, and must be replaced when they swarm. You can buy them used to save money, but they will not last as long as new ones from the dealer. The estimate the person gave (400-500) is correct for a dealer to repair. However, most autoglass shops can repair this for much less! The regulators for the front average around $ 150. The ones for the rear are more costly, averaging $250+.

did you actually break the window? becasue in my car the window fell but it just game off the brackit inside the door and it took like 20 mins to fix it the fist time. i jst took the pannel off my door and had acces too the window thru the speaker hole.
